Book-Evaluate, Adapt, And Overcome: Accept No Limits In Life by Craig Mattice

Thursday Aug 25, 2011

Discover examples and methods to design a life instead of simply making a living by learning to evaluate, adapt, and overcome.

One of our own veteran MLM.com members just released his new book a couple of weeks ago and we would like to let our readers know more about his book. Craig is a major participant on our forum and I think everyone would agree that he is one of the kindest most positive people in our community. Over the years we have witnessed Craig through his posts, deal with the dificulties in his life; not only with his own disabilities but also those of family members as well as other challenging events. He always rises above his challenges while keeping a great sense of humor. Congrats Craig on your book!! -MLM.com Admin

Forum member Shelly Penny writes-Last year Craig had a stroke that affected his brain stem. The doctors thought he would die.. Craig decided he wasn't ready. Not only did he defy the medical prognosis, but late this summer he actually attended a family reunion on a cruise, tooting around in a motorized cart and spreading his joy all around the boat!

He posted about it on his website. During his recovery he kept us updated with videos shot from his home office. Garbled speech and crooked body did not stop Craig from telling us about his first steps, and his rehab victory. His sense of humor showed in his words and beamed from his face. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I went to Craig's blog to watch that video when I was feeling down!

Craig has spent the last countless hours, days and weeks creating a website for his church. This is absolutely remarkable (when you visit Craig's website you will understand why).

Today I found out that last week he received another blow regarding his health. He went to the neurologist and here are Craig's words from his blog.

“His conclusion was confident, up front, and no hint of sugar coating. I have a very severe and serious degenerative brain disease involving the Cerebellum and Brain Stem. There is no cure, treatment, and actually unlike Parkinson's, no meds to help with symptoms. The prognosis is the worst possible with continued and unpreventable progression.”

Craig has been a blessing in my life. He has helped me find joy where there might have been despair. I hope that by sharing Craig's story he might touch you in some way, and if it does could you do us a favor?  Could you visit Craig's blog,  Successful LIving By Choice, A Journey with Craig Mattice  read his final entry, and if you are so inspired, could you share a message of hope or inspiration with Craig? This humble man has inspired so many. Now he and his family need some inspiration to keep them going.

In Craigs book, he recounts his story of coming to terms coping with total disability and outlines specific advice that helped him along the way. Take the journey to discover from Craig's mistakes and experiences the methods used to evaluate, adapt, and overcome a multitude of physical and mental callenges. Below are a few excerpts from his book.

[We Hold the Power]

Our lives are nothing more than a series of choices and we are where we are today based upon the choices we made yesterday and in the past. These choices followed by direct and positive action to carry them out. Therefore, we all must be conscious of this and choose wisely.

The one thing we all have absolute and total power over in our lives is our thoughts. This affects our attitude and behavior constantly. Thus, positive thoughts lead to positive behaviors reaping positive results. Herein is the essence of the Law of Attraction within the Universe and why people may attract good things or bad things into their lives.

When I first heard this theory, it was shared in such a way that you become what you think about the most. Well, had that really been the case, I would be a woman and a good-looking woman at that. Actually the power of the mind coupled with the Law constantly thinking you are going to be fired, at some point you will get fired. Is this part of the predetermined, self-proclaimed destiny? Did you really cause this to happen just by thinking and worrying about it all the time until it becomes self fulfilling?  I don't have a solid answer for that but the case can be made rather convincingly.

Finally, aside from making choices in our lives, to change where we are right now, something has to change. That change comes from within first. We have the choice to "react" or "respond." To react is a knee jerk to the situation or cause and is done without consideration or thinking. To respond is to think through the situation and the solution, picking the right time and method to present the measured response. Thus responding, is always the most productive approach. This is our "response-ability" of our taking "responsibility."

To be upset, aggravated, or placed in any type of personal turmoil by other people is not their fault. It is squarely ours and ours alone for not taking full responsibility for our own lives. We must give permission and allow a person or circumstance to affect us in such a way. Thus, if we do not give permission or take ownership, we will not be negatively affected. The power is within us. We are responsible, so we must be responsible.  To read more excerps from Craigs book visit Craig Mattice or to order his book and read reviews click here
