She: "Well..........we are having a good time and you are a likeable guy, well..
sure..A million dollars is a lot for a one night stand!"

Silence.

He: "Would you go to bed with me for $20?"

She (Indignantly) "Well NO...what do you think I am?"

He: "Sweetie, we've already established that. I'm just trying to find the price."

:o

Point?

Call a spade a spade. ( pun intended)

When one risks (wagers) anything at a game for the hope of a greater return
it is gambling. Period.

That's why they call it a "game of chance".

lol ... I don't know why I'm even arguing this point.

The simple fact is, one of the primary reasons that "good" play is so profitable over time, is that so many casual players continue to believe that poker is "a game of chance".

To quote Journey ... Please "don't stop Believin'"

Sorry,

You are wrong, poker has been defined by a court of law as not being a game of chance, nor gambling, and anyone who plays poker knows this. Far too often poker in put in same class as game of chance by those who do not play poker. Roulette, craps, electronic games such as slots involve no skill or education, those are indeed games of chance.

Just one legal case example:

The brief goes on to discuss Kentucky law, under which "gambling" activities are proscribed. Kentucky Rev. Stat. Ann. section 528.010(1) defines "gambling" as:

staking or risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest, game, gaming scheme, or gaming device which is based upon an element of chance, in accord with an agreement or understanding that someone will receive something of value in the event of a certain outcome. A contest or game in which eligibility to participate is determined by chance and the ultimate winner is determined by skill shall not be considered to be gambling.

Interesting,

Opinions are like you know what, everyone has one, but the legal point is what it is, take it or leave it, in a court of law, poker is not gambling or a game of chance. As we all know, life is a gamble, no one guarantees you will not die at a drop of a hat, so we can all agree to disagree. The fact is, everything is a gamble, just at different degrees.

Thus, there is a risk, no guarantees. There are issues, generally of value. Skill can move more odds in your favor, but it is still a game of risk with the issues. There is no guarantee that you will win every hand. This does not necessarily make the game of poker or gambling in itself a bad thing, but if the issues of value are involved, it is the game

According to Wikipedia, following is the definition of gambling:

Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Typically, the outcome of the wager is evident within a short period.

OTHER GAMBLING AVENUES:

Starting a Business
Buying a House
Investing in the Stock Market

As far as the short term aspect of the definition: Poker has daily ups and downs. Business has daily ups and downs. The Stock Market has daily ups and downs. The daily ups and downs of poker are often less than the swings in these other gambling activities.

Skeptical?

I challenge any other of these gambling avenues to show me a track record more predictable and consistent than my track record of over 25,000 online tournaments:

Sharkscope.com - chicubbies07 (Full Tilt Poker), deuceflopalo (Poker Stars)
Officialpokerrankings.com - chicubbies07 (Full Tilt Poker), deuceflopalo (Poker Stars), muckitforme (Party Poker)

In conclusion, poker is gambling, but gambling is what has created the American Dream!

And yes... there were some losers along the way.

Henry Ford knew how to make cars. I know how to play poker. Can I have my company back?

Its important to know for us that poker is gambling what means that we can loose our whole deposits. In fact we are depositing money to bet it on a specific result or direction and in case we are right, we will win more money than we have betted.
