| In keeping with the spirit of conference calls, the following article comesfrom a conference call with Del and Sylvia Williams, and Gary and Ann Wilson.Del remembers, in 1987, sitting in a conference in Denver with all kinds ofnew gadgets, personal computers, cell phones, etc. These gadgets were goingto simplify our lives and give us free time to do whatever we liked. What hashappened to the world, instead, is that you need all those gadgets just to keepup. In this fast paced world, we look for the technology that helps us accomplishour goals. Today one of the most effective tools is the conference call. Theconference call can help refocus, validate, communicate and motivate our downline. First, the weekly call helps refocus on where we should be. In a week's time you can get unfocused and become very ineffective. The conference call is one of the best ways to pull people back and refocus them. Second is validation. The leader can do much in motivation. However, the leader needs to get others with a higher rank, or who are doing well to help validate the message. These other voices validate to his people that what he is telling them is correct and that they need to follow what he is doing. One example is our Saturday morning Dr's Corner call. The call establishes credibility and validation. The Dr. can tell the "why" and "what" about the product, and the callers bring their product experiences to the call. The third reason is communication. Calls are much more important than emails or other types of communication because you can hear each other's voice. We invite people to join Morinda with three-way calls. We get them on with the upline. On a conference call, we reach many, many more people. In this business, 80% of the questions are the same 20 questions. In answering those main questions on a conference call, much can be accomplished in a short amount of time. In the past, getting information out to the field would take weeks. Today, information travels through the Internet, news, and even from other companies. At any given moment, there are messages that our downlines need to be aware of. With a conference call, the topic can be immediate in discussing current events. The last and most important reason for using a conference call is motivation. It gives you a chance in a short time to communicate with many people. In the conference call on motivation, you can encourage people to continue to find those key people. The conference call can help raise people's belief in their ability to be successful in the business. Once the belief level is up, they can be motivated and go do something. The idea of a conference call is to give them information. But the call is mostly to motivate. If no one is telling the story, then the business is going nowhere. One way we use to motivate is to talk about "why" you started the business: college education, travel, etc. Remembering "why" you started in the business is crucial to being motivated to "apply" the knowledge about the product and business to Susie next door. Francis Bacon in the 1600s said, "Knowledge is power." Del says that is wrong. The reality is this: "applied knowledge is power." Doing and knowing are different. If you are on the treadmill and you stop, you go backwards. Each week in a conference call, the listeners can refocus on their goals, and receive validation on the product and business. The calls help focus energy, and information provides the substance that can be put to work. In the past, writing letters and waiting several weeks for the reply was the way to reach out beyond your immediate sphere. Today with conference callingand three-way calling, we can reach the world. In July 1996, Morinda®, Inc. opened its doors to distributors across the United States. From the very beginning, the executives had visions of a worldwide organization. Gary Wilson and Del Williams were honored when the President, CEO Kerry Asay, asked them to be the first 2 distributorships to sign up. They jumped at the chance to be #1 and #2 of what eventually would become a worldwide organization. Thus, the Coconut-Island Network began. Visit them at www.coconut- island.com
