Grab the Keys to MLM Success!
There are some specific things you must do to succeed in MLM. Following is my checklist of keys to success:
Clearly Define Goals
First, buy yourself a notebook or journal and start writing down your goals. They must be written to be concrete. You don’t get in a car and drive aimlessly. You program the GPS for a particular destination, so program yourself for your desired destination—success!
Make a list entitled, “My Daily Goals.” List the things you are willing to do each day. For example, make 3 calls, distribute 20 brochures, go into a new town, make 10 online contacts, etc.
Next, make another list: “My Monthly Goals.” List the things you want to accomplish each month. For example, increase team by 5 members, book at least 1 fair, increase stock, plan 1 party, join 10 new forums, etc.
Last, write your “Goals for the Year.” One year from now, where do you want to be with your business? For example, write down how much you want to be making. And, don’t just say, “I want to be making $25,000 a month.” Instead, be more specific—write, “September, 2009 – Make $25,000 a month.” This exercise is an example of what you can learn from The Secret and other books and websites about personal transformation, self-growth, and the law of attraction.
Display your goals where you can constantly see them—perhaps at the computer. This will keep you focused.
Create a Plan of Action
Develop a plan to promote yourself and your business. Start a list of things to do—how you can achieve the goals you defined above. List 20 or more ways to achieve each one. It is also helpful to schedule tasks—specify “when” you’ll do them. Set tentative short term and long term completion dates.
Believe You Will Succeed
This is perhaps the most important of all the keys to success. If you don’t believe, you won’t achieve. This is routinely preached by all business leaders and millionaires. Spend as much time as you can listening to inspiring MLM leaders, knowing that you, too, can be a leader! Hang quotes around your home that inspire you to greatness. One of my personal favorites is so simple, I teach it to my little ones:
Do or do not—there is no try.
I don’t want my kids to “try” to swim the length of the pool. Instead, they look me in the eye, with confidence, and say, “I am going to swim the whole length now,” and they do it! You get my point. It’s all about inner confidence and complete, unwavering faith in the universe to provide for you as you do your share to grow and succeed.
Become a Learning Junkie
If you don’t grow, you stagnate. You must continually grow—as a person, as a leader—by always being a student. You must be a seeker of knowledge and then learn to apply the knowledge you acquire to make the most productive time of your work. There is always so much more to learn from the leaders in the network marketing industry. Use your time wisely and schedule daily training for yourself. However, be patient with yourself and remember, you can never “know it all.”
Take Action Daily
Get to work! Act on your goals and plan of action. It is essential to commit to take daily action and work hard each day. And, remember Maya Angelou’s quote: “Nothing works unless you do.” You will get back ten times what you give. Here’s some words of wisdom to heed: don’t slack off after a good week or that will become the momentum you will continue.
Live the Golden Rule
Treat others as you want to be treated. Help them. Give gifts. Never assume someone won’t become an integral part of your future success or that you can’t learn something from them. Be a good listener willing to hear stories of others’ lives and you will learn from them.
Treat new team members with respect and set the example for them. You will earn that respect back tenfold, as a leader, as you set the example of encouraging your team to be committed, take action, and grow stronger every day.
Be Professional
Be as serious and committed to your business as you would if you had to arrive at a traditional job on time and hand in projects by a due date. Get up, get dressed, and get going! Treat your organization like a real business, because it is.
Invest in Your Business
Don’t be afraid to invest money in your business. You have to spend money to make money.
Conclusion
Always remember that overnight success in the MLM business is rarely, if ever, accomplished. Leaders in the MLM industry say that it takes 2-5 years to build a large business. That’s less time—and considerably less money—than it takes to get a degree in college, search for a job, start employment at entry level salary, and then work your way up to the level of success you desire. So, grab these keys to success and start opening some doors with them!
