“I Don’t Like MLM Because Lots of People Fail in This Business”

I bet you come across the above statement a lot in your MLM business, right? Some of the people that we talk to hate MLM or do not want to get involved in an MLM business because they’ve heard there are more people who fail in MLM than those who make big money. Well, what can I say? It is true. Yup, you read it right. A large number fail and that is a fact.

But, when you think about it, how many other things could you replace “MLM” with in the above sentence without making it less true? H-m-m-m—let’s see.

Lots of people fail in school events—more than those who succeed. Only a select few receive first, second, and third place.

Lots of people fail in sports—more than those who succeed. Look at soccer. How many players have reached the world class standard, like Ronaldinho, David Beckham, C. Ronaldo, and Pele?

Lots of people fail in college—more than those who graduate summa cum laude.

Lots of people fail in business—more than the number who succeed and become millionaires and billionaires.

Lots of people fail as singers—more than those who succeed. Look at American Idol—how many try and how few make it to the recording studio.

Lots of people fail in modeling—more than those who succeed. Look at how few models have reached world class standard, i.e., Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, Iman, Tyra Banks.

Lots of people fail in scaling up the corporate ladder—more than those who succeed. Look at any organization. How many individuals have reached the highest level such as CEO in their careers?

Lots of people fail in politics—more than those who succeed. Look at how few politicians become the Prime Minister or President of a nation.

Lots of people fail as authors—more than those who succeed. Look at how many best selling authors are out there compared to the number of aspiring ones who dream of becoming an author.

Lots of people fail as movie stars—more than those who succeed. Look at how many box office movie stars are out there compared to the number of those who go for an audition day after day.

The list goes on and on and on. So, what’s the big deal about more people failing in MLM than succeed? Next time when people say, “I don’t like MLM because lots of people fail in this business,” enlighten them with this fact of life: The majority of people fail in any given profession—more than succeed.

When it comes to failure vs. success, what it boils down to in MLM or whatever the endeavor, is life is about choices. You choose to work hard or not. You choose to study or skip classes when you’re in school. You choose to practice all day long at the football field or just once in a while. You choose to stay awake all night to do your modeling photo shoot or go to bed early. You choose to stay late at the office to complete your work or just leave at 5:00 p.m. regardless, like most of your co-workers. You continue pursuing your dreams or quit half way. I think you see where I’m going with this. Those individuals who are highly motivated, hard working, constantly seeking knowledge, and who persevere in getting what they want will ultimately succeed in life. The rest will be watching from the sidelines.
